Noor asked if she was old enough to go to a concert, so for her 7th. birthday, we took her to see Xavier Rudd at the Theater for Living Arts in Philadelphia. We stayed in the balcony and everyone was wonderful to her. Michael, Ari, Cris and I along with a handful of other people, made a safe space for her to watch and dance from.

There were lots of wonderful things to see and do at the fair, but one of Noor's proudest moments came when she found out she'd won first prize in the pen and ink category of the art competition
Other highlights were the Scottish Marching Band, the Inuit dancers, and of course, the cotton candy

How much slack do you need in a line so that the dragon tied on the end doesn't ricoche back against the cliff? How much cord do you need to reach the edge of the water? And, always a good reminder about climbing: Don't trust the "green" as a hand-hold.

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center has grown a lot in the years we've been away. We watched, enthralled, as a keeper fed donated hot dogs from Costco to the brown bears.
We had a very interesting talk with one of the administrators about conservation, especially in regards to birds and oil spills.
